The New Orleans Saints have signed running back Shane Vereen (29). The 2015 Superbowl winner signed a 1-year contract with no guarantees. He will only be paid if he is on the roster in week 1.

Vereen arrives as another backup for ‘Offensive Rookie of the Year’, Alvin Kamara, while Mark Ingram is serving his four-game suspension. Vereen had 164 yards run and 253 caught yards in 16 games for the New York Giants last season. He will share the Saints’ backfield behind Kamara with Terrance West, Jonathan Williams, Trey Edmunds and rookie Boston Scott.

Vereen was drafted in 2011 by the New England Patriots at position 56 (2nd round). There he played for four years and won SuperBowl XLIX. Since 2015 he played 3 seasons for the New York Giants. In his career he has 79 games, 356 runs for 1,489 yards and 8 touchdowns, and 221 trapped passes for 1,864 yards and 11 touchdowns.
