Capture One 21, optimized for current and future Mac M1s
Long awaited and promised for May by the publisher, Capture One now works natively on M1 Chip Macs, namely the latest MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac Mini and the recent 24-inch iMac Pro. This update was quite important for Capture One, “it represents a fundamental redesign of our system, which prepares us for the future” says the publisher.

Indeed, Capture One 21 (v14.2.0) makes it possible to offer sharply improved performance on compatible M1 Macs. So the new advanced import module (announced in April) works up to 2x faster, navigation in the heart of albums and libraries is 50% faster and the brush tools are smoother than before in Capture One Pro 21.
“After Apple announced the transition from Mac to Apple Silicon, we felt it was the best time to completely redesign Capture One for the future,” said Rafael Orta, CEO of Capture One.
Capture One is faster with this update, and the publisher says this is just the start of many improvements related to rewriting their application code. Without giving more details on the evolutions to come nor the schedule of the next releases, Capture One will follow the hardware evolutions of the next Macs, in particular the next Apple Silicon chips, to offer better performance for photographers.
