Here is DeMarcus Cousins again! While he was without a fixed team since his move to the Clippers last year, DMC is back in the NBA. His new destination? The Milwaukee Bucks, defending champions.
The news broke last night and it comes to us from Adrian Wojnarowski fromESPN : DeMarcus Cousins is back ! Boogie is indeed on the verge of signing a one-year contract with the Bucks, who still had a vacant spot in their squad.. Woj clarifies that this is an unsecured deal, which theoretically means DMC might not finish the season in Milwaukee. Well, we are not here to seal the mood. The takeaway today is that Cousins has a new opportunity ahead of him in a title contender. Isn’t that beautiful? Passed by Golden State, Houston and the Clippers since his major injury problems (rupture of the Achilles tendon and rupture of a knee ligament in particular), Boogie has shown that he can still be productive on an NBA floor: during his last visit to Los Angeles, he was almost 8 points and more than 4 rebounds at 54% on shooting in barely 13 minutes of play. He even participated in the very beautiful course of the Clips in the Playoffs by releasing some good performances against the Suns in the Western Conference Finals. We think in particular of his 15 points in … 11 minutes during Game 5 in Phoenix, allowing the Clippers to stay alive. So no, DMC is not yet burnt.
Bucks kept an open roster spot, needed size and will bring Cousins into a strong culture on a non-guaranteed deal. Cousins played well for Clippers in significant stretches a season ago, and stayed in shape awaiting an opportunity. Now Cousins gets a deal on the defending champs. https://t.co/zDPHYje9Cq

And the Bucks therefore intend to take advantage of it. But why did Milwaukee suddenly decide to bet on DMC? Because the defending champions still have to do without Brook Lopez, their kingpin. Absent since the first game of the season against the Nets because of a capricious back, Lopez does not yet seem ready to return to the courts. He is progressing in his rehabilitation but obviously he still needs a little time. If Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis can of course ensure position 5 on several sequences, the arrival of Boogie should relieve them a little while waiting for Brook to be on his feet. So obviously, Cousins will surely not have the same defensive impact as a Lopez, very important in the system of coach Mike Budenholzer. On the other hand, he will be able to bring his production on a reduced playing time, and that can do good to these Bucks who are now seriously increasing with seven wins in a row.
At 31, DeMarcus Cousins is therefore making his return to the NBA, this time in Milwaukee. How long will he stay with the Bucks? Will the reigning champions keep him once Brook Lopez returns? To see, but in any case the opportunity is there for Boogie. It’s up to him to seize it.
