New online documents for the AP-HP Archives

The so-called “population” registers constitute the registers of entries and exits from each establishment. They generally indicate for each patient name, first name, age, profession, address, date and place of birth, filiation, nature of the disease indicated during admission, that diagnosed by the doctor, bed number, date of entry , exit or death, length of stay and any observations. We understand how valuable they are for identifying anyone who has attended a public hospital under the Assistance Publique – Hôpitaux de Paris. And of course, they are far from being filled exclusively with sick Parisians!

Please note, however, that this online publication does not mean that all the archives of these establishments are immediately available online in digitized form. For example, the registers of entries and exits from the Paul-Brousse hospital, whose new online inventory specifies the ratings since 1950 and until 1995, can only be consulted on site and after a period of 50 years. But now our research is accelerated since we can find all the call numbers we need online before going to the reading room and consulting the registers or microforms.
