New on Netflix this week: Full action with Dwayne Johnson, the latest part of a legendary horror series & more – Cinema News

Late summer is still here and temperatures are high. But if you’ve had enough of the heat and light, you can pull the curtains and make yourself comfortable in front of the TV. Netflix has a lot of new content to offer again this week.

Netflix / Universal Pictures

Like every week, Netflix will be providing its customers with some exciting new releases in the next few days. The tires are smoking in “Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw” and the second season of “Hot Wheels Let’s Race”, while horror fans can look forward to the latest entry in the “Scream” series. In addition, “Emily in Paris” is the conclusion of the fourth season of the successful Netflix series. You can find out how their interlude in Rome turns out and where the paths of love ultimately lead them from September 12, 2024.

As every week, you can find out here which other films and series will be added to the streaming giant’s program between September 9th and 15th. Of course, neatly structured by day of the week.

Monday: Squealing tires in a double pack

Fans of horsepower and motorized carriages will definitely get their money’s worth today. In the “Fast & Furious” spin-off „Hobbs & Shaw“ Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham convince as an unlikely duo with snappy sayings, crazy action scenes and lots of cameos that will make the heart of every franchise fan beat faster. If you also have children who already have petrol in their veins, you should be happy about the release of the second season „Hot Wheels Let’s Race“ because there is a lot of racing fun here too.

Speaking of children: A really great film for the younger audience starts today with The Robber HotzenplotzFor editor-in-chief Christoph Petersen, one of the best Otfried Preußler film adaptations ever – the critics give it 4 out of 5 possible stars and special praise for the acting trio Nicholas Ofczarek as Hotzenplotz, August Diehl as Zwackelmann, Hedi Kriegeskotte as the grandmother.

If you prefer something scary and are not into sports cars or swashbucklers, you might find Scream VIthe right entertainment. The sixth part is again a lot of fun, because here the Ghostface Killer is up to mischief in New York – and (typically for big cities) doesn’t shy away from using firearms. In the official FILMSTARTS review it received a fantastic 4 out of 5 stars, here we also have the trailer:

Tuesday: Best entertainment for a younger audience

The live-action adaptation of Laura’s Star was able to attract almost 200,000 people, both young and old, to German cinemas in 2021. The film would have deserved more, but at that time many cinemas were still struggling with the consequences of the corona pandemic – and the audience also had to be slowly lured back to the screen. Now you can enjoy the live-action adaptation of the children’s book classic, which was awarded 4 stars in the FILMSTARTS review, on Netflix. Here we have the trailer as a foretaste for you:

Wednesday: Fears for one’s existence in communist Poland

This tells the story of 14-year-old Aundria Bowman, who was last seen alive in 1989 when she left her adoptive parents’ house after a heated argument. 21 years later, her biological mother Cathy Terkanian sets out to find her child…

If you need something to tickle your funny bones after this serious topic, you can give “Island of Billionaires” a try. Here, a bitter battle for the global salmon industry breaks out in a small Norwegian coastal community. A competition that is fought by any means necessary and without regard for losses.

Friday: High tension from India

Sector 36 is a suspense movie from India. Here, several children disappear without a trace in Delhi’s gloomy Sector 36. Fear spreads, because it soon becomes clear that an unscrupulous serial killer (Vikrant Massey) is at work. The police are hopelessly overwhelmed.
