Sunday: A fitting film for the current Amazon hit

Guy Ritchie’s “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare” is currently running quite successfully on Amazon Prime Video. Even though the action film is deliberately extremely over-the-top, the secret missions really did take place (see our article on the true background). The later “James Bond” creator Ian Fleming was involved in them – as well as in “Operation Mincemeat”. That is the original title of a German The deception titled film, which sheds light on this secret operation of the British against the Nazis.

This is done in a much more serious and serious manner than in Guy Ritchie’s film – but also with plenty of star power. Colin Firth, Matthew Macfadyen, who is currently the villain in “Deadpool & Wolverine”, Kelly Macdonald, “Harry Potter” villain Jason Isaacs and Mark Gatiss are among those involved. Fleming is played by Johnny Flynn, who Netflix fans should definitely know from the series gem “Ripley”. So if you are looking for a counterpart to “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare”, “The Deception” is the right choice. Here is the trailer:
