New Omicron Coronavirus Strain – Japan Ranks New Variant With Highest Severity Level

In Japan, the State Institute of Infectious Diseases has raised the level of danger of the new omicron strain. So, it was decided to assign the highest danger level to the new variant of the coronavirus (there are three in total).

According to local media reports, the strain is now being rated as a “variant of concern” (VOC).

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida stressed that the authorities will consider the issue of possible further restrictions on entry into the country amid the spread of a new variant of coronavirus infection.
