The drama series “Etterglød”, which does not premiere on NRK until the autumn, has been taken out for the main competition during the international comics festival in Cannes in April.
–
It was announced at a press conference in the French city today, reports NRK.
“Afterglow” is the only Norwegian series of ten candidates from all over the world.
– We are so incredibly happy and proud to be selected for the competition in Cannes, says series creator and director Atle Knudsen in a press release.
– This is a series where very many good people in staff and ensemble have given a lot of themselves to create a series we want to be a fun and moving story for everyone, he adds.
Can win more
“Afterglow” competes for prize in a number of categories, including best series and best actor.
“Afterglow” is about the cheerful Esther who turns forty. She and her family, her husband Arild and the three teenage children, invite all their friends to a big party. But the party takes an unexpected turn when all the guests – by accident – find out that Ester has got cancer.
The creator of the series has himself experienced losing his wife due to cancer.
– This is not a series about discouragement and grief, but a series about the joy of being able to live and about doing fantastic things for those you love, Atle Knudsen says to NRK.
