Nissan has finally officially introduced the series version of the new, already seventh generation of the Z-series sports car, which was first announced by the Z Proto concept for the first time last year. In the end, the novelty is simply called Nissan Z (Fairlady Z in Japan) and meets the expectations that were placed on it.
When performing, so be it confirmed previous reportsthat the VR30DDTT engine from Infiniti Q50 will work under the hood. The drive is therefore provided by a three-cylinder six-cylinder fork doped with two turbochargers, in this case tuned to 405 hp (298 kW) and 475 Nm. This means that compared to the previous Nissanu 370Z there was a significant increase in strength. In particular, the torque increased by 30% due to the use of a supercharged six-cylinder instead of the atmospheric one.

Despite this change, however, “zetko” retains the character of a car for drivers. As standard, the engine is paired with a six-speed manual, which according to the carmaker emphasizes the connection between driver and car, a typical feature of the Z series. cooperation between it and the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance.
The chassis was to be adapted to the increase in power. Nissan promises predictable and sensitive behavior in this regard. The capabilities are to be helped not only by the increased rigidity of the body, but also by wider front tires or new shock absorbers. The Z Performance version also offers a mechanical self-locking differential.
Even the exterior design is not a big surprise, because it is directly related to concept revealed last year. The silhouette with a long bonnet and short stern thus follows on from its predecessor, as a characteristic feature of the Z series. However, the individual details of the 4,379 mm long coupe combine tradition with modern technology, as Nissan says.
LED headlights with eyelash-like graphics thus refer to the former Fairlady 240ZG from the 1970s, while the taillights are clearly inspired by the model 300ZX introduced in 1989.
The same is true in the interior, which, according to Nissan, should fit the driver like a glove. The center console with three analogue indicators is so inspired by its predecessors, but it also features a modern eight-inch infotainment screen as well as a 12.3 “digital instrument panel. The retro shape also has a steering wheel, while the seats benefit from GT-R development.
The Nissan Z will go on sale in early 2022. But we’re talking about the US market, According to earlier reports, the car will not officially enter Europe. The reason is not only high emissions, but also low sales for such a car, so it pays to homologate it. However, unofficial importers will certainly be able to bring zetko to the old continent.
By the way, the car is already traditional in the offer of the Japanese brand. It is the seventh generation of this series, the first to arrive on the market in 1969. In Japan it was called Nissan Fairlady Z, today better known is the name for the US market Datsun 240Z.
