Nissan Introduces Redesigned Serena MPV: A Family-Focused Journey Starts at $43,100
Nissan unveiled their all-new Serena MPV at the 41st Motor Expo in Thailand, a vehicle exclusively designed to cater to families on the move. Embracing the “Big. Easy. Fun” concept, the Serena promises “Fun. Comfort you love” for every adventure.
“Thailand is an important market for Nissan in Southeast Asia. Today’s launch of the new Nissan Serena demonstrates our commitment to Nissan’s influence in Thailand and our readiness to improve the quality of life for our customers with exciting and impressive travel experiences,” said Toshihiro Fujiki, president of Nissan Thailand and Nissan ASEAN.
The Serena’s spacious cabin seeks to adapt to a variety of travel needs, and Nissan believes it perfectly addresses the increasing demand for multi-purpose vehicles in Thailand. “Thai people value spending time together with family and friends, which made the market demand for multi-purpose vehicles, or MPVs, increase," stated Fujiki. "The all-new Nissan Serena, which is the leading multi-purpose vehicle in Japan, is very popular in many countries because it is a comfortable car, very useful and actually works, so it can answer this need very well.”
Starting at a price of 1,469,000 baht (roughly $43,100), the Serena features a 2.0-liter petrol engine generating 150 horsepower and 200 Newton meters of torque. Its CVT automatic transmission promises smooth rides, while its S-Hybrid engine (mild hybrid) technology boosts both performance and fuel efficiency.
For families on the go, the Serena offers a plethora of features designed for comfort and convenience. The innovative design prioritizes cabin space, ensuring easy movement for all passengers across the three rows of seats. “The new Nissan Serena launched in Thailand today," continues Fijiki, "still maintains this special feature. It has the most spacious cabin in its class. There is enough space for all passengers in the three rows of seats.”
"Nissan understands the needs of customers for group travel. So it was designed with ease of use in mind,” noted Fujiki on the accessibility features. Automatic sliding doors equipped with a hands-free system make entry and exit effortless, particularly helpful for busy parents.
As Toyota describes, "The new Nissan Serena is the only MPV on the market that has a light, dual back door so both doors can be opened easily and fully, even when parked near the back. Luggage does not fall out of the trunk while opening and closing."
The interior is packed with thoughtful touches. Independent adjustment capabilities in the second row, fold-down third-row seating, and a plethora of storage options ensure comfort on long journeys. The Serena also boasts 14 cup holders, 6 USB ports (2 per row), and an individual air conditioning system for customized comfort.
An additional highlight is the multi-purpose table in the second row, ideal for placing tablets to keep passengers entertained throughout the trip. A large 10.1-inch HD touchscreen supports both wireless and wired connections for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, adding a layer of entertainment for everyone.
The screen also supports the Intelligent Around View Monitor (IAVM), which provides a 360-degree view of the car’s surroundings. This enhances both convenience and safety, particularly when maneuvering in tight spaces.
With 13 different seating configurations offering flexibility from luggage mode to "beach trip" mode where surfboards and diving equipment can be accommodated, the Serena encourages customization.
Safety is paramount, featuring Nissan Safety Shield 360° with Advanced Driver-Assistance System (ADAS). Amongst its features are:
- Intelligent Around View Monitor (IAVM) with Moving Object Detection: Providing a bird’s-eye view of the vehicle’s surroundings and warnings about moving objects.
- Intelligent Collision Warning (IFW) and Intelligent Emergency Braking (IEB): Reducing the risk of frontal collisions.
- Lane Departure Warning (LDW): Alerting drivers when unintentional lane drifts occur.
-
Blind Spot Warning (BSW): Warning drivers of vehicles entering the blind spot.
The new Nissan Serena Highway Star comes in two colors: Diamond Black and White Solid and orders are
