New New York Mayor Adams takes office

New York officially has a new mayor: Former police officer Eric Adams took his oath of office on Saturday morning (local time) and took over the business of government in the US metropolis. The 61-year-old – the second black mayor in New York history – was inaugurated at the New Year’s Eve party in Times Square. As the 110th mayor, he succeeds the unpopular Bill de Blasio, who was not allowed to stand again after two terms in office.
