New national trade union demonstration on December 15th

The trade unions will meet in Brussels on 15 December for a new national demonstration. The Christian trade union ACV and the socialist ABVV reported it on Tuesday.

The decision to take to the streets again comes days after the federal government rejected a settlement proposal to settle wage negotiations between unions and employers. But that proposal does not find favor with the ABVV.

‘The government’s conciliation proposal, with a 0 percent salary margin and a maximum allowance of 750 euros, is not enough. It’s a plaster on an open wound,” the union wrote on Twitter. “On 12/15 we will take to the streets in a united union front for a national demonstration in Brussels.”

Common trade union front

The ACV also decided on Tuesday, after various contacts, to act in the joint union front of the ACV, ABVV and ACLVB on December 15, according to the spokesman. The action is very important for the ACV in view of the European summit which will then take place in Brussels, it sounds. ACV wants to continue the action for a price ceiling. ‘Energy remains a major concern for our members.’

November 9 was a national day of action and strike. ACV and ABVV therefore mobilized their members to support a cap on gas and electricity and against the wage standard law.
