New names and logos for Latvian leagues, approved participants

The Board of the Latvian Basketball Union has approved the participants for 2020/2021. Ramirent National Basketball League (LBL2) and Regional Basketball League (LBL3).

Taking into account the opinion of the majority of clubs, the Board of the Latvian Basketball Union has accepted the change of the names of the Latvian Basketball Leagues. New logos of the Latvian Basketball League and the Latvian Women’s Basketball League have been developed.

22 teams will play in Ramirent National Basketball League (formerly LBL2): BC “Jekabpils”, BC “Jelgava”, “Gulbenes buki”, “University of Latvia” / BS “Riga”, “BA Turiba”, OC “Limbaži”, RSU, BC “Saldus” / Sports school, “Līvānu stikls”, “Ventspils University College”, “Kandava / Anzāģe”, “Valmiera Glass VIA” -2, BC “Ķekava”, BS “Ogre”, BJBS “Riga” / DSN, BC Liepāja ”/ LSSS, RTU, BJBS“ Rīga ”/ A. Krauklis VEF BS, VEF BA in Valka, BJBS “Riga / Juniors”, SC “Mēmele” / Bauska BJSS and BS “Tukums” / TSS.

Participation of 26 teams in the Regional Basketball League (formerly LBL3): “Ezerzeme / Rēzekne”, Iecava “Dartija”, BC “Salacgriva”, BC “Talsi”, BC “Cēsis” / Cēsis Sports School, “East Ball” / RTDP, BK “Jaunpils”, “Jēkabpils lūši” / SC, Salaspils Sports School, Daugavpils region, Rugāju SC, BC “Carnikava”, BC “Madona” / BJSS, SK “Rūjiena”, BJBS “Rīga / Pārdaugava”, BC “Krāslava / Sports School ”,“ Jelgava ”/ BJSS,“ Valmiera Glass / VIA ”-3, SC“ Mēmele ”/ Bauska BJSS-2, Balvi Sports School, BJBS“ Riga / Juniors ”-2, Nīca, Grobiņa, LLU /” Simple Garage ”, BK“ Roja ”and Smiltene.

It is expected that in the Ramirent National League and Regional League Main Event, the teams will be divided into East and West zones, with two round tournaments. The top eight teams in each zone will enter the playoffs.
