Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – A mysterious disease attacks the United States (US). At least 100 agents of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) intelligence unit have been exposed to “Havana Syndrome”.
Quoted Reuters, this was revealed by CIA Director William Burns, Thursday (22/7/2021). Not only that, 200 US officials are also reported to be affected by this syndrome. To investigate, the CIA said it had taken rapid reaction steps for investigation and treatment.
“We appointed a senior officer who once led the hunt for Osama bin Laden to head the task force investigating the syndrome. He said it doubled the size of the medical team involved in the investigation,” he was quoted as saying Friday (22/7/2021).
“We have also shortened the time for CIA-affiliated individuals with this syndrome from eight weeks to two weeks to enter the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.”
Havana syndrome has symptoms of dizziness, nausea, migraines, and memory loss. In fact, the disease was first reported by officials at the US embassy in Cuba in 2016.
Burns said, in a panel of the US National Academy of Sciences last December, there was a plausible theory about the disease. Namely rays “directed energy”.
Russia was even accused of being the culprit. Although the government of Vladimir Putin vehemently denies this.
“There is a very strong possibility that the syndrome was ‘deliberately’ caused. And, that Russia could be responsible,” Burns said, adding that he was withholding any definitive conclusions pending further investigation.
