BATH In a parlor concert on the occasion of the Capital of Culture 2024, three young Viennese artists performed a program with lesser-known, modern but notable works.
The singer, actress and native New Yorker Arabella Fenyves, Venezuelan pianist Alfredo Ovalles and cellist, composer and native Serbian Anna Topalovic enthusiastically created the multifaceted evening.
Particularly outstanding was the piece “Spiegel im Spiegel” by Arvo Pärts, a peaceful, meditative and tonal work for cello and piano. Topalovic made the audience feel his emotions and gave them an enchanting smile. And so Ana Topalovic and her stage partner and piano co-thinker Alfredo Ovalles delighted in their finely detailed interpretations. Interest in electronic sounds in Viktoria Borisova-Olla’s “Im Klosterhof” for cello, piano and tape has also become a common passion.
There were also works by Ángel Hérnandez-Lovera, Armin Sanayei, Sofia Gubaidulina, Paul Dessau and Osvaldo Golijov, who all left their home countries for political, religious or personal reasons.
