The discovery of a new moon on Jupiter breaks a record. This discovery makes the Planet Jupiter has the most moons. Even the discovery of moons on Jupiter this time more than 10 pieces.
Jupiter is the largest planet in the Solar System. This one gas planet already has a total of 80 moons orbiting it.
This number alone makes Jupiter the planet with the most moons in the Solar System after Saturn. Apparently, the researchers reportedly found a new moon orbiting Jupiter again.
The moons are seen orbiting the giant planet along with 80 other moons.

New Moon Discovery on Planet Jupiter, More than 10 Pieces
The moon is one type of natural satellite that is owned by almost all the planets of the Solar System. Planet Earth also has a moon, but only one and greatly influences life.
However, there are other planets that have more than one moon, such as Jupiter. Previously scientists already knew that Jupiter has a total of 80 moons.
However, a new discovery says that this gas giant planet has more moons. This discovery certainly makes Jupiter hold the record, beating Saturn which has 83 moons.

Total 12 New Months
Minor Planet Center (MPC) which the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory operates has released the orbits of 12 previously unreported moons of Jupiter.
The newest moon from Planet Jupiter can be seen using telescopes in Hawaii and Chile in 2021 and also 2022. The size of the moon itself is recorded to be between 1 and 3 kilometers (km).
Observations also show that the discovery of a new moon on Jupiter, which is small and distant, takes more than 340 days to complete its orbit.
Nine out of the twelve of the 71 outermost Juvian moons have an orbital time of more than 550 days. The moons are likely pulled by Jupiter’s gravity.
Scott Sheppard (Carnegie Institute for Science) said that a smaller moon likely formed when the collision occurred. They dissect from larger objects.
The three moons just detected are among 13 other moons orbiting in a prograde direction and are located between the Galilean moons.
The Galilean moon is large and in close proximity to the far retrograde moon. Possible prograde moons formed where they are.

Saturn Has More Moons?
Brett Gladman of the University of British Columbia, Canada said that Saturn is likely to catch up.
The search for objects up to about 3 kilometers in size moving alongside the gas giant was detected three times more near Saturn.
If scientists could count all the moons that were at least 3 kilometers in size, then Saturn would have the most moons of all the planets in the Solar System.
However, until now the discovery of new moons on Planet Jupiter still makes it the record holder for the most, with a total of 92 months. (R10/HR-Online)
