New Logistics Facility Sets Standards for Modern Services and Sustainability in Langenfeld

At the ceremonial opening of the new logistics facility, Lucas Noerpel-Schneider, CEO of the Noerpel Group, and Mark Wehner, Managing Director of Wehner Logistics GmbH & Co. KG, welcomed customers, business partners and employees, who were able to see for themselves the special features of the property during a tour .

At the start, the logistics center is equipped with 15,900 pallet and 5,000 shelf spaces, a small parts warehouse, over 30 packing stations and partially automated warehousing. In the final expansion stage, Wehner plans to increase capacity to 20,000 pallet and 20,000 shelf spaces. The system is designed for e-commerce fulfillment, contract logistics and all-in-one solutions. According to the logistics service provider, 14 truck gates, two of which are for mega trailers, enable rapid incoming and outgoing goods.

New customer from the toy industry

According to Noerpel, new customer projects have already been won for the new location, including a well-known company from the toy industry. Other customer projects have already moved in with their inventory, including a well-known manufacturer of reusable packaging for food and drinks. With an associated deposit system, this customer consistently implements sustainability by avoiding packaging waste, the group said.

The building met the requirements of the German Society for Sustainable Building (DGNB) and received the platinum certificate. In addition to a photovoltaic system with a 1,000 kilowatt peak and the use of air heat pump technology throughout the facility, LED lighting, extensive roof and facade greening, an irrigation system and a cistern contribute to CO2-neutral operation. The facility also has charging infrastructure for e-bikes, e-cars and preparation for e-trucks.

“By moving into this facility, we are setting standards for modern logistics services,” said Lucas Noerpel-Schneider. “We implement top-level e-commerce solutions for our customers – at the same time we meet our demands for more sustainability in logistics.”

With the new logistics center, Wehner operates two logistics locations in Langenfeld and is expanding its space capacity to 20,500 square meters.

“We are pleased that we can continue our growth course of recent years by moving into the new facility,” says Mark Wehner. “Together with the Noerpel Group, we will continue to expand our tailor-made services.”
