The state-owned German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB) will move to its new location from February 2025. The lease for the new rooms in the Berlin Decks new building project at Friedrich-Krause-Ufer 16-21 in Moabit provides for a term of ten years with an option to extend.
The Governing Mayor of Berlin, Franziska Giffey: “The German Film and Television Academy Berlin is an established beacon of the media metropolis Berlin. The renowned Berlin film school enjoys an excellent international reputation. We will use the move to DFFB to adapt to the needs of the film and television industry in the 21st century. The plans envisage a lively campus in the Moabit neighborhood. At the new location on Friedrich-Krause-Ufer, the DFFB and their students ideal conditions to further develop the teaching in studios and post-production rooms on the latest technical standard and to learn their craft. This is important so that excellent specialists for the film and television industry can continue to be trained in the film capital of the future.”

The Berlin Decks location meets the high requirements for the necessary special areas for production, teaching, administration and technology. The location within easy reach of the center of Berlin and near the main train station offers optimal transport connections. A new S-Bahn connection is planned in the immediate vicinity. The future environment of the film school, which was previously housed in the Sony Center on Potsdamer Platz, is characterized by the adjoining interesting residential area of Wedding and its attractive location on the water. The Berlin Decks project is being built on a former industrial site in the neighborhood of Sprengelkiez and is being developed into a sustainable research and media campus.
