New LEGO statue of André Hazes Sr. on Dam Square | Stars

entertainment">The yellow-black statue with the characteristic black suit, sunglasses, hat and microphone was placed in honor of the birthday of André Hazes Sr. The folk singer, who died in 2004, would have turned seventy on Wednesday.

entertainment">Last year, the LEGO statue of Hazes did not last very long. The statue, designed by artist Frank de Ruwe, was beheaded within a week and the part has never been recovered.

entertainment">Van Zoggel thinks that the new version will last longer. “We didn’t print these Hazes in 3D, but made them from polyester. That is more vandal-proof,” he tells the Brabants Dagblad. “That is also necessary in a place like Dam Square where a lot of public pass by. We hope that Dré will now stand a little longer and remain intact. Then everyone can take a picture with him.”
