The attitude of the New Left was scathing about the way SYRIZA, PASOK, KKE and Plevsis Eleftherias handled the invitation of Alexis Haritsis for a joint motion of no confidence against the government on the occasion of the universities bill.
According to the newly formed faction, the other three opposition parties to which the president of the KO had addressed, that is to say, those to the right of the ND, “either with ridiculous excuses or with their silence denied the self-evident: The front for the defense of the Constitution and Public University”.
Is this an attitude of consensual opposition which, according to the New Left, “does not threaten the sovereignty of Mr. Mitsotakis’ right wing”. On the contrary, it is a political stance “that society rejects and disappoints citizens”.
Because the press representative of SYRIZA, Voula Kehagia, had positioned herself saying that such an initiative would favor the government three months before the European elections given that it would be voted against, it was pointed out by the New Left that it would bring “an interruption of the parliamentary process of the debate on the bill ». Then “the prime minister would come apologizing” and finally “the discussion would be about the violation of the Constitution”. So it would highlight “the just struggle of the student movement”.
Of course, none of this will be proven since the motion did not proceed.
