About the lecture series
Not only is music an important expression of religion, but it has also created gender differences in many religions. Bans on women’s singing and music are not unique to radical Islam, but they have also shaped the Christian church for centuries. If it is in baroque music eg B. If God is glorified by the same musical means as worldly princes – with timpani and trumpets – the patriarchal image of God is established and reproduced until today . However, it is only through singing and music that liberation and self-empowerment can be created and fulfillment experienced. The lecture series will address various aspects of the subject – from the writing of nuns from the Baroque era to the “Guitar Gods” of rock music, from the medieval prohibition of singing to the use of digital media in Orthodox Judaism.
