New Leak Reveals Sony PlayStation 5 Pro “Trinity” Details: GPU Configuration, Clock Speed, and Release Date

There is a new leak about the Sony PlayStation 5 Pro, named Trinity, which was revealed at the Digital Foundry podcast. The team discussed new products from Sony’s developer portal, which the editors had access to.

According to new information, the PS5 Pro GPU has been confirmed again with a configuration of 30 WGP (workgroup processor) or 60 computing units. The press mentions the exact configuration with two shader engines and show a slight update to the console’s GPU clock speed.

Contrary to original belief, the maximum GPU clock speed is 2.35 GHz instead of 2.18 GHz. This clock speed is specified as a maximum clock speed, which may not always be achieved. This could explain why the original estimated numbers mentioned 33.5 teraflops instead of 36.1 teraflops as this new leak suggests.

It was also revealed that the GPU will have access to larger caches: the GLOV cache size has been specifically increased from 16 KB to 32 KB in the Pro console version to improve ray tracing acceleration.

PS5 Pro doesn’t have a release date yet; however, it is believed that the new gaming console will be released in November.
