Today, June 30, 2023, two new leaders were inducted into their new positions at the Federal Police in Hanover. The Permanent Representative of the President of the Federal Police Headquarters in Hanover, as well as the new head of the Federal Police Inspectorate at Hanover Airport.
Numerous guests from politics, business, various security authorities and partners attended the inauguration ceremony. The new representative of President Michael Schuol is Chief Police Director Andreas Meier. The married 59-year-old and father of two sons was hired in 1981 in the middle service of what was then the Federal Border Police and in the following years he rose to the higher and then to the higher service. After a variety of assignments, including as deputy head of department in the Uelzen federal riot police department, head of crime control in Hanover, head of department in the crime control department of the federal police headquarters, head of inspection at Hanover Airport, he was most recently head of the operational unit in the federal police headquarters (responsible for Bremen, Hamburg and Lower Saxony).
Furthermore, the 35-year-old police chief Marc Gellert was inducted into his new position as head of inspection. He is married and father of two children. Born in northern Germany, his career began in 2010 with the Federal Police in senior service at Frankfurt Airport. In the following years, Mr. Gellert was also deployed in other European countries, including at the Greek airports in Athens and Heraklion on Crete, as a border police support force abroad (GUA), which was sent by the federal police in an advisory and supportive capacity. After training for higher service, he worked as deputy head of the Federal Police Inspectorate for Combating Crime in Hamburg and then as deputy head of the Federal Police Inspectorate at Hamburg Airport.
President Schuol: “I am very much looking forward to working with two colleagues who will complete our management team and, due to their different backgrounds, will bring new expertise and ideas to the structure of the authorities!”
