Intel has introduced a whole generation of new processors. The new chips from this manufacturer will appear in the notebooks of all major players in the market – in models from HP, Dell, Lenovo, Acer, Asus, Gigabyte, Razer and others.

The new Alder Lake-H series of powerful processors includes a total of eight different chips. Specifically, three medium-performance Core i5 models, three powerful Core i7 chips and two extreme versions of the Core i9. It was the last mentioned category that was given the most space at the Las Vegas event.

Intel boasted that its new flagship notebook world would beat competition from both AMD and Apple. In some specific activities, the Core i9-12900HK processor should be even more than 40% more powerful than the best models from the competition.

However, it must be added that the results of comparative tests come directly from Intel, real tests will be available only after the launch of new products. In addition, AMD also showed new chips at CES, which quite logically did not appear in comparison.

An uncompromising monster
But that doesn’t change the fact that the flagship Core i9-12900HK is an uncompromising monster. It is a 14-core chip that has six extremely powerful cores and eight energy-efficient ones. This novelty can work at a frequency of 5 GHz. At the same time, it retains a solid TDP 45 W, which should have a positive effect on the durability of the notebook when working without a charger.

Among the chips from the Core i7 series, 10- and 14-core processors appear in the Alder Lake-H generation, clocked at 4.7 or 4.8 GHz in Turbo mode. The TDP remains the same as for the above-mentioned flagship. The Core i5 then includes 8- and 12-core chips clocked at 4.4 and 4.5 GHz, again with a TDP of 45 W.

The new chips should appear in the offer of leading laptop manufacturers in the coming weeks. Intel has estimated that with the newly introduced processors, we should see more than a hundred new laptops.

Powerful graphics for gamers
Even more new laptops – specifically over 160 – are promised by Nvidia, which unveiled two graphics cards for laptops at CES. The news is called GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and GeForce RTX 3070 Ti. Following the example of desktop models with the same designation, which premiered last year, these will be cards designed for demanding users, which will also be matched by the purchase price tags of new laptops.

The GeForce RTX 3080 Ti with 16GB of GDDR6 memory is said to be the most powerful gaming graphics in the world in the world. In practice, according to the manufacturer, it should offer even higher performance than the desktop Nvidia Titan RTX. The price of laptops with this card will start at $ 2,499 (CZK 54,360).

As the number suggests, the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti will be cheaper – and logically slower. Machines with this graphic should be offered in stores starting at $ 1,499 (CZK 32,610). Nevertheless, the manufacturer promises that this card will be up to 70% faster than the RTX 2070 Super for laptops, in practice it will be able to generate 100 frames per second at a resolution of 1440p.

The first laptops with new graphics should appear on store shelves in early February.
