New Lampshade Installation Illuminates Augsburg’s Old Town Path and Enhances UNESCO World Heritage Experience

The implementation of this installation is carried out on behalf of Augsburg Marketing by the renowned light and urban space designer Walter Sager, in collaboration with the association “Altstadt Augsburg Aktiv eV” under the direction of Marcus Frank.

The lampshade installation extends along the well-known old town path, which begins at Judenberg and leads via the newly gleaming Gignoux House, Holbeinplatz, the Middle Lech to the City Gallery. This picturesque path is highlighted with a variety of lampshades and accompanies visitors along the Lech canals. The aim is to make part of the UNESCO world heritage more tangible.

The installation was opened at the start of the Michaeli-Dult between Vogeltor and Jakobertor. A total of 28 large and 20 small lampshades will be placed along the path.
