KAUFLAND 4 LARGE BATHROOM. The Kaufland Romania SCS company, which manages in our country the business of the hypermarket chain of the Schwarz group (which also owns the discount retailer Lidl), received authorization to build the fourth hypermarket in Baia Mare, located on Vasile Lucaciu street no. 163.
The investment is estimated by the beneficiary at 20.86 million lei (the amount is deliberately undervalued) and includes the construction and equipment of the hypermarket, the annex buildings (the prefabricated Imbiss fast-food container, the terrace for customers, the external arrangements of the premises (parking, green spaces, sidewalks, roads), connections to public roads, the totem pole, advertising elements and the related fencing.
At the end of last year, the company started the demolition of the existing buildings on the land on which the project is developing, the works (estimated at 1.5 million lei) being completed.
on which the fourth Kaufland hypermarket in Baia Mare is being developed is located at the exit of the city towards Tăuții de Sus/Baia Sprie (opposite the former industrial platform IMUM/IMUAS, on which in the recent period there were a long line of furniture stores – Cressent, Ambient, Naturlich, Lem’s, Q10). The respective land belonged to the company Ambient and at the end of 2012 it became the property of the Greek bank Alpha Bank (through a subsidiary in Romania of the Cypriot company AGI RRE Participations 1 Limited) – the company Ambient was indebted to Alpha Bank, and the transaction was made on the condition that Ambient could operate in the sold stores for another 5 years (in March 2021 Ambient entered bankruptcy), which sold it to the Schwarz group.
Kaufland entered on the retail market in Baia Mare in the March 16, 2006 when he inaugurated the first hypermarket, on George Coșbuc street no. 38, an investment of 8 million euros, and in December 2009 he opened his second hypermarket in the city, in the Vasile Alecsandri neighborhood, on Unirii Boulevard no. 21A, an investment of 8.5 million euros. The most recent inauguration of a Kaufland hypermarket in Baia Mare took place last year, on August 10, 2022, when the third hypermarket that Kaufland owns in Baia Mare was opened, the one located on Bd. Bucharest no. 100, investment of 35.5 million lei.
