NEW JERSEY — This is good news for Mexicans residing in the Garden State.
This is because New Jersey opened the first Mexican consulate in the state, which will allow residents of this country to no longer have to visit consulates of other states, such as New York, to carry out their procedures.
The new consulate is located at 390 George St, suite 100, New Brunswick, NJ 08901 and will be open to the public Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
“It makes things a lot easier for us and it’s much better not to go to New York,” said Elpidio Galeana.
“It means that the Government of Mexico recognized that there was a large enough community of Mexican people who required services. So we came here to serve you, to be able to issue documents such as the passport, consular registration, process the voting credential, dual nationality,” said the consul of Mexico in New Brunswick, Mariana Díaz.
And this consulate will provide various services that include processing identity documents such as a passport, voting credentials, certified copies of birth certificates, among others. Also Civil Registry and powers of attorney in addition to providing consular assistance and advice in areas such as human rights or immigration detention. Also inclusive procedures and services for the LGBTQ+ community.
“It’s just fair because the community I was going here is very large, especially southern New Jersey is far from the consular services of New York, in good time all of them, a great achievement,” said Jaime Lucero, community leader.
“Being here is very easy, much more comfortable, there are always appointments, the people are very cool, we are very grateful,” said Nefranti Telly.
