New Jersey, New York and Connecticut Among Best States to Work From Home – NBC New York (47)

A Wallethub Study noted that the tri-state area is among the top 10 states for working from home. New Jersey ranked first.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, state governments ordered “non-essential” businesses to close their buildings, prompting many businesses to adopt a remote work structure, the study noted.

While the country has now reopened due to the vaccine distribution, many workplaces have kept that structure in place. In fact, around 20% of all professional jobs were remote at the beginning of 2022.

More and more businesses are adopting work-from-home positions, but people who are allowed to work from home may not always have the best environment to do so.

The best conditions for working from home include low costs, reasonable comfort, and a high level of security.

To find the states that provide the best conditions for working from home, WalletHub compared all 50 states and the District of Columbia on 12 key metrics.

The study’s data ranges from the proportion of workers who work from home to the cost of internet and cybersecurity. They also considered factors such as the size and crowding of homes in the state.

The best states to work from home are:

  • New Jersey
  • District of Columbia
  • Delaware
  • Connecticut
  • Massachusetts
  • Utah
  • Texas
  • Washington
  • Maryland
  • New York
