In many countries, cinemas are currently closed due to the corona pandemic. It is now clear: “No Time To Die” will be postponed again
The wait for the new James Bond film continues. The 007 makers announced that “No Time To Die” (original title: “No Time To Die”) will only be released in cinemas worldwide on October 8th.
The start of the agent thriller with Daniel Craig was actually planned for March 31 in Germany. Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, there had been speculation in recent weeks about another postponement of the film. In many countries the movie theaters are currently closed.
James Bond fans are now used to waiting. Originally, the premiere of “No Time to Die” should have taken place in October 2019. Due to a change in the director’s chair – from Danny Boyle to Cary Joji Fukunaga – and due to improvements to the script, the start was initially postponed to February, then to April 2020. After the outbreak of the coronavirus, the producers moved the date to November 2020, later to March 2021 and now back to October. This time the creators did not make an explanation in the short notice on the official 007 website.
The 25th Bond film was one of the first to be postponed due to the pandemic. Since then, numerous other movies have followed, including Hollywood blockbusters such as “Top Gun Maverick” and “Black Widow”. Meanwhile, Warner announced that this year all of his films, including “Godzilla vs Kong”, “Dune” and “Matrix 4” will be released in parallel in US cinemas and on their own streaming service HBOMax. That caused outrage in the cinema industry.
The James Bond makers have so far ruled out the publication of their film on a streaming platform. An MGM spokesman said in the US industry magazine “Variety” that the film is not for sale. One wants to preserve the cinema experience for the film viewers.
