Now the latest information appears that the new iPhone 15 will receive USB-C ports that will support the Thunderbolt interface. This is indicated by the leaked images and the installed Retimer chips, which are standardly present on the Thunderbolt interface. The Thunderbolt interface was jointly developed by Apple and Intel. The goal was to improve the existing USB-C interface, which would offer a higher transfer capacity.

The existing USB-C interface reaches theoretical speeds of 20 Gb/s. The USB-C Thunderbolt 3 interface offers twice the theoretical speed, i.e. up to 40 GB/s. The move to add support for the Thunderbolt interface makes sense, Apple wants to ensure maximum transfer capacity for its phones. According to available information, the new iPhones should include a USB-C port supplemented by a 3LD3 chip, which should limit certain functions.
