Lansing, MI – The Michigan Department of the Treasury has announced the launch of a paid internshipsdesigned to provide college students with valuable experience in state government. This program, which will begin in January 2025, aims to offer students a semester-long opportunity to gain direct experience in their areas of study, benefiting both participants and Michigan residents.
State Treasurer Rachael Eubanks stressed the importance of this program: “Our goal is to offer students the opportunity to gain public sector experience within their fields of study. We are looking for students from various disciplines, including social sciences, business, law, marketing, communications and STEM. “Internships can be a first step toward a rewarding career in public service.”
Structure and Benefits of the Program
Treasury’s internship program is designed to be hybrid, combining in-person and remote work, and is open to undergraduate and graduate students. Participants will have the opportunity to:
- Professional development: Expand your skills and knowledge in your area of study through training and specific projects.
- Practical experience: Engage in daily projects and assignments that provide real-world experience, allowing students to apply what they learn in the classroom in a professional setting.
- Networking and mentoring: Connect with industry professionals and colleagues, fostering relationships that can be valuable for future professional development.
- Professional preparation: Receive training and mentoring to prepare for future careers, including professional development workshops and mentoring opportunities.
