New Intel laptop processors leaked by two German web shops

It was apparently the intention that Intel would not launch the new Meteor Lake CPU generation until mid-December, but two German web shops had accidentally already put laptops with the new Intel laptop processors online.

Baur and Otto’s premature sales start

Baur in Otto, both belonging to the Otto Group, have already launched laptops with Intel’s next-generation Meteor Lake processors. The laptops come from Acer and use the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H or Core Ultra 5 125H. However, both webshops have already taken the laptops offline from their websites.

Baur and Otto's premature sales start

Violation of Intel’s official sales launch

Both stores did not adhere to Intel’s official sales start on December 14. However, interested parties should not expect delivery to take place quickly. Baur indicates that availability will not be until the end of February, while Otto currently indicates that delivery will take place in March. It is expected that laptops from other manufacturers will not be available in Germany until early 2024. However, following this leak, it is unclear when the laptops with the new Intel laptop processors will be available in the Netherlands or Belgium.

Confirmation of core configurations

Baur and Otto confirmed the naming scheme on the one hand and the first core configurations on the other. With the Core Ultra 7 155H, Intel activates all CPU cores: eight performance cores, six efficiency cores and two new energy-efficient cores in the SoC chiplet. The latter perform basic tasks, so that the computing units in the separate computing chiplet have to wake up less often and therefore save energy. These new Intel laptop processors are optimized for maximum performance and energy efficiency

Specifications and availability

The Core Ultra 5 125H uses 14 CPU cores and probably two performance cores and part of the level 3 cache are disabled. No information has been provided about the other chip components, such as the integrated graphics unit and the AI accelerator.

Shared features of both configurations

Both laptop configurations use the same design with a 14-inch OLED screen (2880 × 1800 pixels). They also have two Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type A (5 Gbit/s, previously known as USB 3.0), HDMI, DisplayPort, a microSD card reader and a headphone jack.

Price differences and specifications

The version with Core Ultra 7 155H, 1 TB SSD, 32 GB LPDDR5X RAM and Windows 11 Home is available for 1249 euros in Germany. If you choose the Core Ultra 5 125H with half the memory (512 GB SSD, 16 GB RAM), you will save 250 euros.

Finally

As mentioned, it is not yet known when the laptops with the new Intel laptop processors will be available in the Netherlands or Belgium. You might expect that to be from December 14 as well, but even that hasn’t been officially confirmed by Intel. So this will just be a matter of waiting and following the news.
