New installation system: processing without calibration | Installation | technology

The installation system has been around for over 20 years: “alpex F50 PROFI is the original, we were often ahead of our time with the system. What others are now presenting as innovations has been firmly established with us for years, ”says Michael Hümpfner, Head of Product Management in the Building Services division at Fränkische. Accordingly, long-term temperature resistance, press jaw flexibility, flow optimization and lead-free belong to the properties of the system. In addition to multi-layer composite pipes, this also includes fittings made of PPSU (polyphenyl sulfone) or lead-free, dezincification-resistant brass. What is new with immediate effect is that calibration is no longer necessary during processing.

The teeth of the F press jaw contour have given the system clear press identification since 1993. The installer does not need any additional tools to recognize the pressing, so there is no additional effort or additional waste. The viewing windows patented by Fränkische, which have also been around for a while – namely since 1999 – can also be seen during the pressing process and are intended to ensure more security when checking the insertion. From 2001, Fränkische relied on a new material for its fittings: the high-performance plastic PPSU, which is particularly hygienic and corrosion-resistant.
Since 2005, the alpex F50 PROFI has wanted to convince its users with its press jaw flexibility: The fitting can be pressed without restrictions with five common contours – F, U, TH, H and VP – with all approved pressing tools. In addition, the multi-layer composite pipe system with its permanent temperature resistance can withstand long-term high temperatures and should provide safety up to 95 ° C.

In 2012, Fränkische optimized the flow of its complete system. The fittings have up to 30 percent more cross-sectional area and the largest inside diameter among comparable radial press fittings for multi-layer composite pipes on the German market. Lead-free was implemented the following year: Since 2013, Fränkische has been using lead-free and dezincification-resistant materials that are hygienic and future-proof. Both PPSU and the brass material used meet the requirements of the Federal Environment Agency (UBA) and the REACH regulation.

“Our standards are still unmatched in many areas. Those who rely on Franconian will continue to benefit from our many years of experience and our technological competence, ”says Michael Hümpfner. Since the spring of 2021, calibration is no longer necessary for the alpex F50 PROFI, as the O-rings are protected by their size and position in the support sleeve as standard. In this way, the pipe connection is quicker, especially with the small and frequently used nominal widths. After cutting to length with pipe shears, installers can save one processing step: they simply attach the fitting and press it in as usual.
The packaging of the components should also be practical and create a balance between hygiene and environmental aspects. Fittings can be safely stored in the reusable universal boxes that Fränkische has been using since 2005.
