INSTAGRAM has a new feature called Private Story Likes. This feature allows users to like someone’s Instagram Stories without sending them a DM.
Previously, any response someone sent to Stories would appear as a response in the DM inbox. Well, now Instagram have an update.
Quoted from The Verge, Tuesday (15/2/2022), with this new feature, users can show appreciation for a story without the need to send a DM to the user.
“So now, when you read Stories, between sending a message and the plane icon, there will be a heart icon to like the video,” Instagram head Adam Mosseri said in a video.
He added, if the user taps on the heart icon, a like will be sent to the story creator. “Those likes will appear on the viewer sheet, not in your DM thread with them,” he explained.
Especially for Stories, Instagram will not show how many Likes the Stories video has. This is a very different approach from what Instagram chooses for the user’s main feed.
Instagram spent more than two years testing the number of likes in its main feed before making the decision to leave it on by default, although users can choose to hide it in their posts.
You won’t see the number of public likes, though you can see who Instagram users have Liked on your Stories.

“We’re just making sure that people can express more support for each other, but also there’s no need to send DMs,” Mosseri said.
