New infections continue to be low: we are scratching the corona curve!

The recent trend at a flat level encourages the Austrians.

The number of new infections is increasing rapidly worldwide. The USA continues to be the sad leader: 900,000 cases, around 52,000 people who died from the virus. On Thursday, the US mourned over 3,176 deaths. After all, it was reported the following day that 1,258 new victims in the 24-hour period meant the lowest number in three weeks. However, experts continue to warn of premature hope.

Austria is doing very well in international comparison. The “Corona curve” is increasingly flattening out. With 77 new cases in a 24-hour comparison, the increase remained in the clear double-digit range. The number of people currently sick fell by 160 people or just under 6 percent to 2,509. 12,103 people have already recovered – as of Saturday, 3:30 p.m. According to the Ministry of Health, 518 people have died from the virus so far.

Waiting for business openings to impact

608 people are hospitalized for coronavirus disease, 148 of them in intensive care units. That is eight less than on Friday.

Eleven days had passed since yesterday’s Saturday since the first shops opened on April 14. Minister of Health Rudolf Anschober (Greens) pointed out that any effects of the measure on current figures would be at least 12 days late. First indications could therefore arise this Sunday.
