Actor Alec Baldwin has been charged again with the fatal shooting incident on the set of the film Rust late last month. Camerawoman Halyna Hutchins was fatally shot in the chest when Baldwin fired a weapon which he thought was uncharged.
The indictment from script supervisor Mamie Mitchell states that the script never stated that Baldwin had to fire the revolver. “Alec Baldwin deliberately fired the loaded gun for no valid reason or excuse, even though the upcoming scene didn’t ask for it,” writes the script supervisor.
Mitchell also accuses the actor of irresponsible behavior. Baldwin chose to play Russian roulette when he fired a gun without checking it. She says she was three feet from Baldwin and the victim when he pulled the trigger.
In addition to Baldwin, the employee who was responsible for the weapons on the set is also being charged. Gutierrez Reed told authorities she did not know how a bullet ended up in the gun that was fired. Her lawyer says the weapon was probably tampered with. US media reported that Reed was inexperienced and was hired to cut costs.
Second charge
A week ago, Baldwin was also sued by another employee of the film. Serge Svetnoy was responsible for the lighting as a technician. He also alleges in his indictment that Baldwin was negligent.
Alec Baldwin said a week and a half after the fatal shooting that he was devastated by what had happened. He called Hutchins a friend.
