Microsoft has decided to modernize the appearance of Windows 10. The system is to receive a set of completely new icons. They will be visible in the file explorer and on the desktop.
Windows 10 testers have already received a version of the operating system with new icons. These are included in Windows 10 version 21343 for Insider Dev Channel members.
Although this is a relatively small change, it significantly affects the appearance of the system. Folders with documents and various types of files, as well as device icons or disk partitions, have a completely different design.
Amanda Langowski, head of the Microsoft Windows Insider program, explains that these visual tweaks, as well as the rearrangement of icons and their sizes, are to help achieve greater consistency for environments in Windows that show users files Microsoft even dared to touch the Recycle Bin, although in the past changes to this icon they were not received very warmly.
In addition to the visual changes to the icons, the file explorer now has larger spacing, as well as a compact mode.
Updating the icons and file explorer is just the tip of the iceberg. In the near future, Microsoft is planning a thorough reconstruction of the system in terms of visuals – it is codenamed Sun Valley and most likely the company will reveal more about it during the upcoming events devoted to news in Windows.
