New Hugh Jackman film ‘Reminiscence’ turns out to be a huge flop

Reminiscence Under normal circumstances, it could have become a blockbuster that dominated the box office for several weeks. It is a completely original concept, written and directed by Westworld-maker Lisa Joy, who is making her directorial debut with this film.

The film has a lead role for actor Hugh Jackman as an army veteran. He lives in post-apocalyptic Miami, where he owns a small business. In doing so, he lets people relive their memories of their choice, until a mysterious woman turns his entire existence upside down and implicates him in a major conspiracy.

Gigantic flop
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the film will be a success. In fact, it debuts with a very disappointing box-office score.

Reminiscence opened in the United States with a box office of just under $2 million over a three-day period. With that, the film experienced the worst three-day debut of a film that was shown in 3,000 cinemas in the country.

And not only that, the rest of the world earned just over 3.5 million dollars, which means Reminiscence on a total box office of just $5.5 million.

Given the budget of between 53 and 68 million dollars, that is quite disappointing and the film still has a long way to go before the budget is recouped.

This is, of course, partly due to the coronavirus. The delta variant is much more contagious than previous variants of COVID-19 and ensures that the audience does not go to the cinema quickly. Apart from that, the question is how much interest people would be under normal circumstances, but of course there is no answer to that.

  1. The 10% of it’s money it made back is almost triple the percentage of this movie that I watched before turning it off. Voice over? Really?
