Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The new cellphone launched by Huawei has become a hot topic lately. Not only because of the sudden launch, but the cellphone called ‘Mate 60 Pro’ was a serious blow to the United States (US).
Mate 60 Pro uses a chip that supports 5G networks. The chip is made by a Shanghai manufacturer, Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp (SMIC).
When tested by Bloomberg Newsthe speed is up to 350 Mbps or equivalent to a premium cellphone like the iPhone which is equipped with a 5G network.
This cellphone seems to be Xi Jinping’s proof that China can develop high-end technology like the United States (US). In fact, the US has been trying hard so that China cannot develop qualified technology.
One of them is by banning the export of advanced chips for Huawei and the Chinese technology industry in general.
“There is hope that Chinese companies can find a solution to the US-imposed sanctions on chip supply restrictions,” state media China Daily wrote, quoted by the Washington Post, Tuesday (5/9/2023).
For information, since 2019 the US has blocked Huawei’s access to buy 5G network technology in developing sophisticated cellphones that can compete with the iPhone and Samsung.
In addition, in October last year, the US Department of Commerce in October last year banned the export of manufacturing equipment for the production of processors 16nm and below to China. The US also asked its allies Japan and the Netherlands to impose similar sanctions on China.
Until now, Huawei and SMIC have not officially published the chip specifications that make up the innards of the Mate 60 Pro. However, the performance of these processors is on par with 7nm chips or better. At least that’s according to Dylan Patel, founder of semiconductor research firm SemiAnalysis.
The Mate 60 Pro is priced at 6,999 yuan or the equivalent of Rp. 14.6 million. This cellphone is equipped with only one RAM option and three storage options, namely 12GB/256GB, 12GB/512GB and 12GB/1TB.
Huawei Mate 60 Pro is designed with a 6.82-inch LTPO OLED screen and a resolution of 1212 x 2616 pixels. The screen is also equipped with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. In addition, the Mate 60 Pro’s screen is protected by the second generation of Kunlun glass.
Uniquely, this smartphone screen has three holes or punch holes. The hole houses the 13 MP (ultrawide) front camera, as well as the 3D ToF sensor and Face ID security feature.
While on the back there is a circular camera module. The module accommodates three cameras, consisting of a 50 MP main camera accompanied by f/1.4 to f/4.0 aperture features, OIS stabilization, and PDAF.
48 MP telephoto camera (f/3.5), which is equipped with 90mm (periscope telephoto, PDAF, OIS stabilization, and 3.5x optical zoom. Then there is a 12 MP ultrawide camera (f/2.2).
Huawei Mate 60 announced that it can be used to make satellite phone calls. As for color availability, it comes in black, white, green and purple options.
