New hospital in Gargues in Aubagne: consultation or “pantaloonsade”?

In the heart of summer, the Aubagnais “anti-concreting” collectives remind us of their good memories. Fighting against certain applications of the Intercommunal Local Urban Planning Plan (PLUI) of the Aubagne and Étoile region approved by the Metropolis on June 29, 2023, they return to the draft modification of this urban planning document, the consultation of which ended on July 31.

Once again, let’s put it in context: on the job for years, the PLUI therefore came into force a little over a year ago. But, last January, a public consultation was launched by the Metropolis to include two modifications, one of which should allow “the opening up of the Gargues sector to urbanization, in particular to promote the establishment of the future hospital, but not only“, recall the three collectives – Carrière Borie, Habitants du Garlaban and La Louve.

A future hospital? Yes indeed: under development since September 2020, a brand new facility is to replace an aging and poorly adapted Edmond-Garcin hospital by 2031. Where? On the Gargues site, located at the exit of Aubagne, before the Paluds area, along the A52 motorway.

The consultation on this amendment, launched on January 17, was closed on July 31.
