A matter of days, or at most a few weeks.
After a series of further delays and postponements, the new hospital Our Lady of Mercy will open its doors at the beginning of this year 2023, i.e. with a few years of delay on a very evolutionary calendar, oscillating from 2017 to 2022, passing through an intermediate deadline set for 2019. Time has lengthened on the Stiletto hill , given the traditional whims of the construction sites, the changes made to the initial project, the Covid crisis or the professional elections, as the director of the plant had claimed in the autumn of 2022 to the point of unleashing a union controversy.

The construction site started in 2014 with the signing of the contract. It is a plant with an area of 38,000 m2. Along the way it is considered necessary to push the walls. The Mercy of the XXIand century, over 60,000 m2, will also include a boarding school and a family centre. The transfer of oncology from the Castelluccio hospital is back on the agenda. Covid has affected architectural bias. It is deemed necessary to increase the number of beds in intensive care and therefore insert the intensive care unit on the site.
The modular plant – which will be expanded as needed – will benefit from state-of-the-art equipment.
The first patient, if the schedule is respected, should be received there on January 30th. The time to finalize the move, the two plants, the old one – dates back to 1959 – and the new one will work together.
