The Cleveland Clinic, in Ohio, United States, announced the initiation of human clinical trials of a vaccine against triple negative breast cancer, after two decades of research. The scientists will start with people who have already had the disease and hope to continue with patients who are at genetic risk for this type of cancer. The first phase of the trials is expected to end in September 2022.

The vaccine makes the immune system work against the protein α-lactalbumin, present in most of the tissues affected by this type of cancer; In addition, it prevents tumors from growing.
