District President Brigitte Lindscheid appoints the Darmstadt pharmacist Dr. Miriam Ude as honorary pharmacist for five years.

In this role, the pharmacist will go on inspection tours in around 100 pharmacies in the city of Offenbach and the Offenbach district. The monitoring activities in the context of the pharmacy tours can certainly lead to confrontations in which just as much assertiveness as a sure instinct are required. Knowledge of human nature, empathy and a knowledge of the relevant regulations that goes beyond what the normal pharmacist would expect are essential for successful work as a volunteer pharmacist.

“The volunteers who work for us all work in a public pharmacy and bring their practical experience to the inspection work,” explains Brigitte Lindscheid, President of the Government. Pharmaceutical Adviser Dr. Ude will now contribute to maintaining the high quality standard of the pharmacies there in southern Hesse. A total of ten pharmacists are now volunteering for the Darmstadt RP in Hessen.

According to the Medicines Act, which the Darmstadt Regional Council is responsible for enforcing nationwide, all 1,500 pharmacies in Hesse must be inspected on a regular basis. For many years now, the RP Darmstadt has relied on volunteer employees from the pharmacy community, who, in turn, check with employees of the RP Darmstadt whether the pharmaceutical and pharmacy regulations are being complied with.
