This new hiking trail leads from New York to Canada

Adventure seekers will soon be able to hike from New York directly to the border with Canada. The approximately 1207 kilometer long hiking and cycling path for this is to be completed by the end of 2020.

Since the beginning of the corona pandemic and the associated restrictions, more and more people have discovered hiking for themselves – also in the USA. A new hiking trail has been under construction there for almost three years, leading from New York to the Canadian border. Now large parts of the Empire State Trails to be completed by the end of 2020, so that hikers have another opportunity to enjoy nature on site.

The approximately 1207 km long hiking and biking trail in the east of the USA forms a horizontal T-shape. It leads north from New York City to the Canadian border at Lake Champlain and from Albany west to Lake Erie.

The project was announced by Governor Andrew Cuomo in 2017 and builds on two pre-existing but previously separate paths. An additional 563 kilometers connect the two routes near Albany, reports “Lonely Planet“.

These sights can be seen on the Empire State Trail

The Empire State Trail is divided into three sections. The Hudson Valley Greenway begins in Battery Park in Manhattan and leads to Albany. The Champlain Valley Trail runs between Albany and Canada and the Erie Canalway Trail runs from Albany to Buffalo.

The “Empire State Trail” forms a T-shape. It runs from New York to Canada and from Buffalo to Albany.
