What will change in heating subsidies?
From January 1, 2024, there will be new rules if you want to make your heating more environmentally friendly. The government wants more people to have heating that isn’t bad for the environment.
What’s new?
Homeowners who live in their own home can now get extra money if they quickly change their heating system. If you don’t make that much money, you can get more money. This should help more people use environmentally friendly heating.
How much money can you get?
You can get 30 percent of the costs back if you exchange your old heating system for a more environmentally friendly one, for example a heat pump or a heating system that uses wood or sun. There is even more money if you use certain heaters that are particularly good for the environment.
How much is the money?
You can combine different funds, but only up to 70 percent of the costs. Up to 30,000 euros are eligible for funding for a house. That means you could get back up to 21,000 euros.
What has changed?
Originally the government wanted to give more money and landlords should also get more. But that’s not possible now because the government has to save money.
Can you also get loans?
Yes, there are still cheap loans available if you want to make your house completely environmentally friendly. New is a loan of up to 120,000 euros per apartment for people who earn less than 90,000 euros a year.
Where do you apply for funding?
Applications are now submitted to the KfW Bank and no longer to the Federal Office of Economic Affairs. You can do this from the end of February, even retroactively for heaters that you have already installed.
