Pax has a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Valladolid and has the Certificate of Emergency and Emergency Medicine (CME). In addition, he has a master’s degree in Clinical Management, Medical and Assistance Management from, technological universities (Tech). He has also carried out numerous courses related to urgencies and emergencies.

Since 1996, he has been part of the health area of ​​Menorca, working in the emergency sector. On the other hand, Pax was part of the Verge Toro Hospital for ten years in the emergency department and since 2007 she has performed the same service at the Mateu Orfila Hospital.

In 2013, he was appointed head of service, a position he held until today. The new manager of the health area of ​​Menorca was also a councilor of the Maó City Council between 2004 and 2011.

Recently, the Balearic Islands have invested 3.2 million euros in the purchase of vaccines against pneumococcus. This disease mainly affects infants under five years of age and people of legal age. In addition, the contracting of this supply for the remainder of the year and all of 2024.

In Spain, in recent years, the national epidemiological surveillance network (Renave) collects between 3,000 and 4,000 cases per year and mainly affects children under five and older people.

Vaccination is the main tool to prevent this disease, for this reason, in 2016 the vaccine was included in the children’s calendar. In the case of older people, the vaccine was already administered to people in risk groups and in 2018 the Public Health Commission approved universal vaccination for people who were 65 years of age or older.

In addition, this conjugate vaccine now has a tool that improves the effectiveness of the previous vaccines and, in terms of the groups at greatest risk due to underlying pathologies and elderly institutionalized people, improves efficiency, since it reduces the cost of the vaccine and vaccination and increases protection.
