Marco Weller welcomed as the new head of the operations department – Offenbach
(fg) On Monday morning, October 9, 2023, Police Chief Daniel Muth welcomed Mr. Marco Weller as the new head of the Operations Department of the Southeast Hesse Police Headquarters and warmly welcomed him in the presence of numerous managers. “I am pleased that in Mr. Weller we have been able to gain an experienced, competent and highly professional leader in an important key position,” said Muth on the occasion of the transfer of office to the 51-year-old.
In his speech, the head of the authority also emphasized the high level of responsibility and the daily challenges that come with carrying out his office. By heading the operations department, the police officer, who lives in Frankfurt, not only takes over the department with the largest number of personnel within the police headquarters, but from now on he will also lead the affairs of the entire police and criminal police.
A look at his police record shows that he is well prepared for this:
Marco Weller knows police work and operations from the ground up and has already worked in numerous police areas. He started in the middle police service in 1991 before switching to training for the higher police service in 1992. After working for several years in the operations of the riot police and the special services directorate of the PP Frankfurt, he completed his studies for higher service around ten years later (2002 – 2004) and was subsequently employed at the state police headquarters and the Hessian State Criminal Police Office.
From 2016 to 2017 and from 2022 to September 2023, Marco Weller was head of the operations department at the Frankfurt am Main police headquarters. He previously headed the preparatory team for the opening of the ECB and, during this time, was also head of the 4th police station, which is responsible for the Frankfurt train station area. A challenging task that reflects the high level of responsibility and his exceptional commitment. Furthermore, Marco Weller from Frankfurt is used to a high schedule and has been responsible for the preparation and implementation of a variety of large-scale operations in the past.
“This, in addition to his other senior positions, made him particularly qualified to take over the management of the operations department at the Southeast Hesse Police Headquarters in Offenbach,” said Police Chief Daniel Muth.
Marco Weller takes over the office from department director Dirk Fornoff, who has been head of the department for over three years and is now moving to the South Hesse Police Headquarters in the same role. “I’m looking forward to the new, challenging task and also to the exchange with my colleagues, which is very important to me,” summed up the married father of two daughters in his welcome speech, in which he also made it clear that constructive cooperation was a basic requirement for a successful work process for the entire authority.
Police Chief Muth, his predecessor Fornoff and a representative of the staff council wished him every success in his new job on behalf of all the managers present.
