Trapani, Sicily is about to get a major boost to its climbing scene with the grand opening of Dolmen climb, the region’s first indoor climbing gym. Mark your calendars for December 8th, 2024, as Dolmen Climb throws open its doors to the public with a special open day event.
This exciting new venture is the brainchild of the Scorace Climbing Team ASD, a group dedicated to promoting climbing in the area. After years of searching for a suitable space, Dolmen climb is finally a reality, offering a dedicated space for both seasoned climbers and newcomers to hone their skills.
The decision to create dolmen Climb comes at a time when climbing is experiencing a surge in popularity, both nationally and internationally. Trapani province, with its stunning natural rock formations, has long been a magnet for climbers from across Europe and beyond. Areas like Scorace and San Vito, boasting first ascents by renowned climbers like Ondra, Moroni, and Iagnemma, have become legendary destinations.
“aggregation will be our strong point. The project really wants to bring young people together, it wants to bring bouldering and climbing to this area, which has always attracted attention but has never been able to take the reins personally. We noticed that there is a need to create a place to train local young people, who until now have limited themselves to observing climbers arriving from outside.”
David Catalano, founder of Dolmen Climb alongside maria Grazia Tedesco and Dario Mantle, emphasizes the gym’s commitment to fostering a strong climbing community. Dolmen climb aims to nurture the next generation of climbers, not only from a technical standpoint but also by promoting ethical and responsible climbing practices.
Despite the challenges of bringing this project to fruition, Dolmen Climb is determined to make a positive impact. The December 8th open day will be a chance for the community to experience the gym firsthand and learn more about the exciting opportunities it offers.
Dolmen Climb is poised to become a vital hub for the climbing community in Trapani, providing a space for training, connection, and the festivity of this exhilarating sport.

## Turning Tides: an interview with Dr. Amelia Chen on the Future of Transatlantic Relations
**World-Today-News.com** – As the world grapples with unprecedented challenges from climate change to geopolitical instability, the transatlantic relationship stands at a critical juncture. To shed light on the future of this crucial partnership, we spoke with Dr. Amelia Chen, a leading expert in international relations and transatlantic affairs at the Center for atlantic Studies.
**World-Today-News**: Dr. Chen, thank you for joining us.
**Dr. Chen**: It’s a pleasure to be here.
**World-Today-News**: The relationship between the US and Europe has seen its share of ups and downs historically. How would you characterize the current state of transatlantic relations?
**Dr. Chen**: It’s a complex picture. We’re witnessing both convergences and divergences. The Russian invasion of Ukraine has, understandably, brought the US and Europe closer together in terms of security concerns and shared values. However, ongoing economic disputes, differing approaches to China, and anxieties over US commitment to the transatlantic partnership are all creating friction.
**World-Today-News**: You mentioned economic disputes. Are we seeing a return to protectionism within the transatlantic bloc?
**Dr. Chen**: There are certainly pressures towards protectionism, fueled by factors like anxieties over supply chains and the rise of economic nationalism. Though, the transatlantic economic relationship remains incredibly intertwined. Both sides recognize the benefits of a strong, open trading relationship.
**World-Today-News**: What are the biggest challenges facing the transatlantic partnership in the next decade?
**dr. Chen**: Several key challenges stand out. First, managing the competitive aspects of the US-China relationship while maintaining a united front against authoritarianism. second, finding common ground on crucial issues like climate change and digital regulation. ensuring that the transatlantic partnership remains relevant and attractive to younger generations who may not share the same historical baggage.
**World-Today-News**: What are some potential opportunities for the future of transatlantic relations?
**Dr. Chen**: Despite the challenges, there are also opportunities. The transatlantic partnership has a unique capacity for innovation and collaboration, particularly in areas like green technology and cybersecurity. Shared values like democracy, human rights, and the rule of law remain strong and can be leveraged to build a more inclusive and sustainable future.
**World-Today-news**: What advice would you give to policymakers on both sides of the Atlantic to strengthen the transatlantic relationship?
**Dr.Chen**: First, prioritize open and honest dialogue. Second, focus on concrete collaboration on shared challenges. third, invest in ”people-to-people” exchange programs to foster deeper understanding and empathy across the Atlantic.
**World-Today-News**: Dr. Chen, thank you for your valuable insights.
**Dr. Chen**: My pleasure.
