The reboot follows a new generation of students. It’s 2021 and a lot has changed since Blair and Serena called the shots on the steps of The Met, though that’s still the gathering place for Constance’s students. The Blackberries of yesteryear have given way to new technology, which typifies the new generation. And more has changed than just technological updates. The original series consisted mainly of white and cisgender characters. The protagonists represent a more diverse picture in the reboot. Not only people of color, but also the LGBTQ+ community will have a prominent place in the new show.

With the series we are presented with new characters and new acting talent. The new cast will include Jordan Alexander (“Sacred Lies”), NYU student Savannah Smith, model Zion Moreno, Thomas Doherty (“High Fidelity”), Emily Alyn Lind (“Code Black,” “Revenge”), Tavi Gevinson (who is best known for her blog ‘Style Rookie’), Eli Brown (‘The Perfectionists’), model and skateboarder Evan Mock and Whitney Peak (‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’). For many of them, it’s the first major role they’ve landed. The cast is also joined by Elizabeth Lail (“You”), Johnathan Fernandez (“Lethal Weapon”), Jason Gotay (“Peter Pan Live!), Broadway star Adam Chanler-Berat, and Tony-winning actress Laura Benanti.
