Bayerischer Rundfunk, Bavaria Film and DZ Bank also award the New German Cinema Prize at the Hof International Film Festival. Here the companies explain why in a joint statement.

Die Hof Film Days have always been a home for German film and one of the most important cultural events in Bavaria. The BR That is why he has accompanied the Hof Film Festival since it was founded by Heinz Badewitz. But also the film-experienced partners Bavaria Film and DZ Bank have been closely connected to the Hof Film Festival for many years. This is not least due to the festival’s excellent reputation as a platform for young German filmmakers. Thorsten Schaumann has impressively succeeded in developing the festival in a contemporary way while at the same time preserving the unique tradition in the spirit of Heinz Badewitz.
For the Hof Film Festival, as well as for us as award sponsors, the focus is on discovering talent and new and surprising German films. The New German Cinema Promotion Prize honors filmmakers who are at the beginning of their careers. Our goal is to secure the talents and their films the attention of a broad public with the sponsorship award and thus support their creative work.

New German Cinema Promotion Award
The New German Cinema Prize for the Best Film, worth 10,000 euros, is donated by Bavaria Film, Bayerischer Rundfunk and DZ Bank. The prize is awarded to filmmakers for their first to third feature films made in Germany with a minimum length of 79 minutes, which premiere in the program of the Hof International Film Festival. An independent jury decides on the prize winner.
This year the jury consists of Luzie Loose, Johanna Wokalek and Katrin Schlösser.
